"Love Ranch" is an R-rated, off-putting, over-acted melodrama starring Oscar-winners Helen Mirren and Joe Pesci as the owners of the first legalized brothel in Nevada in the 1970s.

Based on a true story, Mirren rises above the seedy material, while Pesci wallows in it, and both are directed by Mirren's real-life husband, Taylor Hackford.

"Love Ranch" plays more like "Showgirls" than "Boogie Nights" and when it was all said and done, I felt like I needed to take a shower, just to get the film off of me. Enter at your own risk.
