"Animal Kingdom" is a tough, violent, Sundance award-winner from Australia that takes place in Melbourne and follows the dangerous life of 17-year-old, Josh, who is being brought up by a family of hardened criminals.
Will Josh become one of them or will he turn against his confrontational, desperate family? That's the burning question in a film that is both well-made and difficult to watch.
Australia has always produced good films but there appears to be a new wave of talent creating smaller, grittier films, and just as good. "Animal Kingdom" is rated R, and is not for everyone, but tells the honest, heartbreaking truth.
