ARLINGTON — The spotlight has been turned off on a North Texas music showman. Johnnie High died Wednesday at his home in Bedford after battling heart disease.

High's Country Music Revue, which airs nationally in syndicated television, is credited with helping to launch the career of many artists — including LeAnn Rimes, the Dixie Chicks and Lee Ann Womack.

High was 80 years old.
