It's Complicated is a funny, ambitious, well-acted, adult romantic comedy starring Oscar winner Meryl Streep. She plays Jane, an intelligent, divorced mother of three.
Wouldn't you know it? She starts having an affair with her newly married ex-husband, played with a sense of reckless fun by Alec Baldwin.
Steve Martin also enters the picture as an architect who wants to date Jane.
What makes It's Complicated so unusual is that all the main characters are 50-something. As in all Nancy Meyers movies, they live in beautiful homes, have unlimited income and you somehow assume everything will eventually work out fine.
It's Complicated is rated R and is not an Oscar contender; nor is it nearly as good as Something's Got To Give. But it's in the same cinematic ballpark as What Women Want and The Holiday.
Watching Meryl Streep glow on screen is a joy, and Alec Baldwin steals the film by being so deliciously naughty. This one is simply for the pleasure of being entertained.
