Terminator Salvation is an overblown, big budget, blow-up movie and the lesser of the four Terminator films.
But - I must admit - there is a thrilling middle section that is exactly what we all pay to see.
Set in 2018, Christian Bale is deadly serious as a working man's John Connor fighting Skynet and the machines. But the real find in this film is Sam Worthington as Marcus Wright, a death row inmate sent from the future.
Terminator Salvation suffers from the absence of a cohesive script. When all else fails, just blow everything up.
Some of it works and some falls flat. It's not a bad film or a good film, but rather a sci-fi movie in the middle.
