Gary's blog on "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past" and "X-Men Origins: Wolverine"
Ghosts of Girlfriends Past is so bad, so misdirected, so out of touch, it makes Bride Wars look smart.
Matthew McConaughey plays Conner Mead, a self-centered, single man who breaks up with women on conference calls and sets out to destroy his brother's wedding.
As in all dumbed-down, formula films, Conner is visited by a ghost, played by Michael Douglas, and before you can say, "Christmas Carol," he's confronted with his miserable past and all the women he's made miserable.
Ghosts of Girlfriends Past has the look and feel of a Disney movie but is filled with dirty language and sex talk.
It's a weird PG-13-rated combination of styles that is far from innocent.
Even the presence of Jennifer Garner can't save this raunchy misguided film. At times it even reminds me of the bad Eva Longoria film, Over Her Dead Body.
