NEW YORK (AP) — NBC has emerged as the big winner after one week of the new television season and is hoping it won't all come crashing down the way it did last year.
Each of the four biggest broadcast networks had some carefully nurtured initial successes. But NBC was alone in seeing more prime-time viewers than it had during the same week in 2012. The Nielsen ratings company says its viewership last week was up 19 percent over last year.
The continued growth of "The Voice" is a big help to NBC and fills four hours of the network's schedule each week. James Spader's thriller "The Blacklist" has started strong.
Other winners for the week were the Robin Williams comedy "The Crazy Ones" on CBS and the adventure series "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." on ABC.
