DALLAS — It’s been more than a decade since Fran Harris’ Houston Comets won the very first WNBA championship. But she's still got game.
This next challenge, however, may be the toughest yet.
Harris has just been named as a finalist in a competition that started with 15,000 people, all vying for a job as advice guru on ABC's "Good Morning America."
When she played basketball at Dallas’s South Oak Cliff High School and at the University of Texas, her teams went undefeated and won championships.
But she says people have been coming to her for advice since high school. In the corporate world, she became a life coach.
Harris thinks she'd be perfect to be GMA’s version of Dear Abby.
“The corporate background, the life coaching background, the fitness background, and beyond that, I've been on TV most of my adult life," she said. "So I think that gives me an edge.”
ABC has been posting videos of Harris and the other six finalists, inviting viewers to vote for their favorite.
One thing's for sure — she doesn't lack confidence
“I don't think anybody has the width and breadth of experience I do, so I’m the clear winner — at least in my mind," she said. "I'm a legend in my own mind, so what can I tell you.”
"Good Morning America" airs weekdays 7-9 a.m. on WFAA Channel 8.
