An elderly man in a motorized wheelchair was stuck and killed Friday evening.
The man was trying to cross the intersection of Red Bird Lane north of Interstate 35 when he was hit and killed by a motorist.
According to Dallas Police, the vehicle that struck the male was traveling east bound on E. Redbird Lane, was speeding and ran the posted stop sign at E. Redbird Lane and Singing Hills Drive.
The driver's car dragged the wheelchair for at least a block before he stopped.
Neighbors say the man was often seen riding in the motorized wheelchair and was well known in the neighborhood.
The driver was arrested and charged with manslaughter.
The victim's name has not yet been released.
