Teachers across North Texas could face furloughs and pay cuts under a bill passed in the Texas House.

The bill gives districts the power to use unpaid days off and salary reductions to offset cuts in public school funding.

Supporters said the bill is all about giving districts some flexibility in tough financial times.

Critics said the bill simply goes too far.

The bill now moves back to the Texas Senate for final negotiations.
