PLANO — Plano ISD said goodbye to its longtime superintendent on Tuesday night.
Dr. Doug Otto is retiring after leading the district for 17 years.
Mayor Phil Dyer presented Otto with a plaque and thanked him for the high standards and example he set.
The public is invited to a retirement reception for Otto this Friday, January 20, at Otto Middle School, 504 North Star Road, in Plano. Hours are from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Last month, the Plano ISD school board hired an executive search firm to identify candidates to succeed Dr. Otto. The board says it expects a new superintendent to be in place this spring.
