FORT WORTH - Fort Worth Independent School District's board will vote on employee cuts at Tuesday night's meeting.
The district could loose more than 553 positions.
Fort Worth ISD spokesman Clint Bond said those cuts will come several departments including the teaching ranks.
"200 of our teachers are in that number who decided to take the early incentive bonus that we offered," said Bond. " We have another group of retired, re-hires who are being asked to vacate their positions."
He said their are 167 positions that are short term funded and those jobs will go away.
Some employees have already been notified that they will be laid off. Others departments are waiting for the board's action before issuing pink slips.
The district has not touched its athletics department.
"Fort Worth has not considered that yet," Bond said. "Doesn't mean that at down the road or in the future that wouldn't be on the table."
