DALLAS- The Dallas Independent School District is preparing for another round of teachers who want to resign or retire early.
About 500 teachers, administrators and other workers showed up over the weekend to accept the district's buyout offer of 15 percent of their base salary.
The offer is part of the district's way of coming to terms with a drastic cut in education funding.
The district hopes the incentive will mean fewer layoffs.
"I think it will probably help, but I also think they're losing a lot of their good tenured teachers, you know," said Sue Schwartz, teacher.
The district has set aside $7 million for the buyout program. Applications will be accepted until the offer expires March 8 or until the money runs out.
