DeSoto - The DeSoto ISD Board of Trustees will vote on the status of superintendent Dr. Kathy Augustine tonight in a board meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

The meeting will be held in the Dalton L. James Administration Board Room at 200 E. Belt Line Rd., in DeSoto.

Augustine has been on paid leave since July 11, her first day as superintendent, after a report was released detailing widespread cheating in Atlanta schools. Augustine was second-in-command of the district at the time of the alleged cheating.

Augustine has said she played no role in the cheating scandal, in which educators changed students' test answers.

The board of trustees was scheduled to vote on Augustine's status on July 25, but the board left without a decision as three of the seven board members were not present for the regularly-scheduled meeting. Van Stripling, Curt Krohn and Aubrey Hooper were absent.

Board President Warren Seay announced at the July 25 meeting the issue would be tabled until August 8. The board left the meeting quickly, leaving a room full of parents and community members confused and chaotic.

DeSoto administrator Levatta Levels has served as acting superintendent in Augustine's absence.
