DALLAS -- Dallas Independent Schools District’s new superintendent unveils his initiative to improve schools.
It is called ‘Destination 2020’.
The ambitious plan is designed to make DISD a top school district.
Today is Mike Miles first news conference as superintendent, even though he's not technically on the job until July 1.
Destination 2020 gives every DISD principal a year to improve academics, classroom instruction and engagement with parents.
Miles also wants a leadership academy within DISD to better train principals.
If they meet the bar after a year, they continue. If not, those principles move on.
