COPPELL — What would you do to get your child into a particular high school?

In Coppell, some parents are spending days camping out in line, vying for a spot at the district's New Tech High.

The school is part of the New Tech Network, which includes 62 schools nationwide. It will feature a new technology curriculum pioneered by New Tech High School in California.

Moms and dads have set up tents around Coppell's football stadium. They're hoping to secure for their kids one of the limited spots at the new school.

Camping out may seem excessive, but parents like Sindhu Menon say it's worth it for the opportunity.

"It's a new approach," she said. "Me and my son are very excited to do the program. That's why we are doing the sacrifice and are ready to stay here."

There are currently 135 spots available at New Tech High for the upcoming school year. Registration starts Saturday at 8 a.m.

Any applications received after this weekend's cutoff will be placed in a March 11 lottery.
