US economy adds jobs; is this a trend?

The U.S. economy added more jobs in July — 163,000. The Labor Department was expecting between 90,000 and 100,000.

That's the best one-month gain we've seen since February.

The stronger-than-expected jobs numbers actually helped lift the markets for the week. What is the meaning of these numbers? Will the unemployment numbers turn around before the elections?
