COPPELL - There are YMCAs all over North Texas, but there is one in particular where they say the customer is always right.

The YMCA is alright in the eyes of a group of Coppell kids.

"Once they realize they're able to pick the things they want to do - things they love to do - then they're energetic," said Devin Bright, the YMCA's site director in Coppell. "They participate, no discipline problems or anything, because they are actually doing things they want to do."

The children at the YMCA after-school program get a big say in how the activities are run and which ones are offered.

"I think we're lucky because I like having to choose from centers each day and I like to choose from clubs every week," said 10-year-old Shane Sampson.

Their parents have a big say, too. Working mom Gina Kay is on an advisory committee. One of the ideas was an enrichment program that allows parents bonding time during field trips.

"When we had the science enrichment, we spent the night at the museum, the science museum," Kay said. "We spent the night. We slept next to a dinosaur. It was all themed. That month was science themed."
