DALLAS - Traffic was temporarily shut down to one lane on both the southbound and northbound Dallas North Tollway after a person police said was driving the wrong way drove her SUV into an 18-wheeler early Friday morning.
Authorities said the driver was heading northbound in the southbound lanes of the Dallas North Tollway at about 3 a.m. when her vehicle clipped a semi, breaking off its axle.
Before the crash scene was cleared, a white SUV could be seen turned over onto its driver side, stuck on the median between Royal Lane and Forest.
The NTTA reported receiving a call about the driver heading the wrong way just moments before the crash. In a written statement, the Texas Department of Transportation said the driver had entered the tollway heading the wrong way at Royal Lane, traveling less than a quarter of a mile before the collision.
No one was hurt in the crash.
The driver of the SUV was taken to the Dallas County Jail on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Her name was not disclosed.
