Mason is an active and playful Chihuahua who is looking for a new home.

The five-month-old pup loves squeaky toys and treats, gets along well with other dogs, enjoys going on walks and is the perfect size for any family.

You will be able to find Mason at the at the SPCA of Texas Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center at 2400 Lone Star Drive in West Dallas starting at noon Saturday. Call 214-742-7722 for more information.

The SPCA has partnered with several animal welfare organizations to offer a program that offers free spay/neuter surgeries to residents of specific zip codes in Dallas.

The Big Fix for Big D initiative is a multi-year effort of four community partners to spay or neuter tens of thousands of pets in Dallas to significantly diminish numbers of unwanted litters, with the ultimate goal of reducing the need to euthanize pets at Dallas Animal Services.

Through the Big Fix for Big D initiative, the City of Dallas Animal Services and Adoption Center (DAS), Kaufman County Animal Awareness Project (KCAAP), Metroplex Animal Coalition (MAC) and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Texas (SPCA of Texas), will offer free spay or neuter surgeries, vaccinations and registration to the pets of people living in eight zip codes in South Dallas: 75211, 75212, 75216, 75217, 75224, 75227, 75228 and 75241.

These services are free, but the Big Fix for Big D partners ask participants to please consider making a donation so they can help even more individuals spay or neuter their pets.

Pet owners may now call one phone number to make spay or neuter appointments for their pets, which is 214-DBIGFIX.

For more information, visit the Big Fix for Big D website.
