LEWISVILLE - A man shot by a Lewisville officer Wednesday night in the parking lot of the Vista Ridge Village Shopping Center was pronounced dead after he was rushed to a nearby hospital.
Police said they received a call from employees at a nearby McDonald's who spotted a man armed with a gun.
A short time later, an officer patrolling the area spotted a man, now identified as 31-year-old Roger Preston Hamill, matching a description given by the McDonald's employees. When the officer pulled Hamill over, he pulled out a gun, forcing the officer to fire a shot at the suspect, police said.
Hamill was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:02 p.m.
The Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting.
