CELINA - North Texans are hoping the windy weather will die down this weekend, so they can take to the skies in hot air balloons.
The City of Celina kicks off its signature Balloon Festival and Family Fun Day Friday night and runs all day Saturday. Dozens of activities are planned for the festival besides ballooning. The Old Celina Park has acres of carnival rides and giant inflatables. In addition, helicopter rides, skydiving, jet powered rocket man are all planned.
"It is geared for the kids, people to bring their kids or grandkids," said Todd McCally, chairman of the Celina Chamber of Commerce. "But, we've got a petting zoo, dog adoptions, a lot of things again that are family oriented. We have acres, literally acres of carnival rides for the kids. It’s just a great atmosphere."
The Balloon Festival starts at 4 p.m. Friday and it runs all day Saturday. Parking is $5 and a general admission ticket is $5.
