DALLAS- Residents in Dallas have been eagerly awaiting the Grand Opening of the Klyde Warren Park for months now. Set to open Saturday, this 5.2 acre park above the Woodall Rogers Freeway has something for everyone.
Between Pearl Street and St.Paul Street, park goers can enjoy open green spaces, a performance pavillion, walking paths, a dog park, a children's park, water features, and even games. This urban green space is equipped with permanent ping pong tables and foosball tables. Not only can you practice your mean wrist skills, but you can amp up your golf game at the putt putt greens.
As this week continues, final touches are being made on the Deck Park Project. The construction team is working hard to finish up certain projects in time for the Grand Opening this Saturday. From the general public's point of view, the park will be mostly complete Saturday. Many of the post-opening projects will not be noticeable to park visitors such as lighting changes and construction on the performance stage roof (only visible from above).
One thing to note - the restaurants located in the deck park will not open until mid-2013. Chef John Coleman will be opening Savor and Relish - two new culinary experiences for park goers! Savor will be the main restaurant with a gastropub concept. Relish will be its companion kiosk offering quick bites for dining outside. However, Relish will debut as a food truck for the Grand Opening until the full restaurant and permanent kiosk open next year.
The Klyde Warren Park opens this weekend to the general public. Over 50 free activities will be available to park goers on Saturday and Sunday. For more information about times and events during the Grand Opening Weekend, visit www.klydewarrenpark.org.
