ROANOKE - This weekend, North Texans will take a step back in time to the Wild West. Gunslingers are coming to “Celebrate Roanoke” Saturday.
The annual festival will have all types of games and activities, and of course, historic gunfights. Friday morning, News 8 got an early look at the show from The Legends of Texas group. The Fort Worth-based actors use guns and wear authentic clothing inspired from the late 19th century.
“It's part of our history. We want to keep that alive, and we keep that alive when we amuse the kids these days. And they get a real kick out of it,” Brad Gandy, with The Legends of Texas, explained as he walked through a comedic skit Friday. "They love to see these gunfights. Once you do the firing, it's fun to see the kids come up and want to take pictures with you. That's what we get a lot of our joy from is the kids."
“Celebrate Roanoke” is from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday near the corner of Oak Street and Rusk in historic downtown.
