ENNIS - North Texans are looking at one of the best bluebonnet seasons in recent years. It all peaks just in time for the Bluebonnet Trails Festival this weekend in Ennis.

Monday morning News 8 got a look at over 40 miles of Bluebonnet Trails in the area. Ellis County is known for its natural Texas bluebonnet fields - some of the best in the world.

Not only can you admire the beautiful flowers, but you can also take home bluebonnet souvenirs, from shirts and jackets to your very own bluebonnet seeds. The event is great for the entire family with live entertainment, arts and crafts, and even an antique car show.

The Ennis Bluebonnet Trails Festival runs April 20-21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

Though the bluebonnets will be in blooms for most of April, the third week is said to be the peak of the season - you've got to see it to believe it.
