GRAND PRAIRIE - Some North Texas mothers are hoping to score big this Mother’s Day. They’ll be digging for a diamond worth $2,500 buried under the racetrack at Lone Star Park. On Wednesday, News 8 took our mobile Instant Live 8 to the main track for an early look.
The Mother’s Day Diamond Dig will invite the first 500 women, age 21 and over, through Lone Star Park’s Grandstand admission gates to participate in the dig after all the races Sunday.
The ladies will dig using spoons in the dirt in a specific section of the track. They’ll be looking for a colored plastic egg with a diamond solitaire inside.
Below is the schedule at Lone Star Park for Sunday:
11:30 a.m. – Gates open
1:35 p.m. – Live Racing begins
5:45 p.m. – Approximate diamond dig time
