DALLAS - Blondes and brunettes in North Texas are coming together to tackle Alzheimer's Disease in the 5th Annual Powder Puff Football game. WFAA's Colleen Coyle and Wyatt Goolsby threw on a jersey and joined the team on News 8 Daybreak.
Wyatt and Colleen only had a few minutes to run some plays, but both teams have actually been practicing for at least 10 weeks. It can get competitive on the field!
"There are a lot of fans that come out - people that know football and a lot of us who have never played before. So, when you get out on that field and the fans are screaming, it can be really intimidating. But the girls love it and they've been practicing - so this is all their work coming together and showing off on the field," Erin Finegold, President of Blondes vs. Brunettes Dallas, said.
All the players are passionate about raising awareness and funds for the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Dallas. Over 70% of the Powder Puff players have been affected by Alzheimer's Disease whether it be through a friend or family member. The teams hope to raise at least $275,000 this year.
The big game takes place this Saturday August 11, 2012 at the Cotton Bowl in Fair Park. Kick-off is at 7:30pm.
Every $25 donation gets you into the game and after-party. Help us tackle Alzheimer's Disease!
