DALLAS - Dozens of North Texans laced up their running shoes Monday morning for a mile jog through downtown Dallas.

Members and volunteers of the non-profit organization Back on my Feet were celebrating their two-year anniversary and helping the homeless in the Dallas area.

The group encourages the homeless to run with them three days a week to build community and support. The non-profit also helps in finding jobs and housing.

Back on my Feet members told News 8 the group has not only provided them with a strong social network, but more confidence, strength, and self-esteem.

"It's been a way for me kind of to refocus my life, rededicate to goals that I've set for myself, and even to advance farther athletically and spiritually as a person than I have before," said Back on my Feet member Adam Hopper.

Back on my Feet volunteers run with members on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Members must maintain a 90 percent attendance record in order to continue in the program, as well as gain access to job training, employment, and housing opportunities.

Back on my Feet also has chapters in Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Boston, Chicago, Indianapolis, Atlanta, New York City, and Austin.
