FORT WORTH - A Fort Worth distillery is putting a North Texas twist on an old favorite - whiskey. Firestone and Robertson Distilling Company is not only one of the largest craft distilleries in North America, but they are also the first to age whiskey in North Texas.

Founders and owners Troy Robertson and Leonard Firestone have taken their passion and common vision to create unique brands of whiskey including one with a unique Texas flavor.

Troy and Leonard patented a one-of-a-kind yeast strain for F&R's bourbon whiskey. It all started from a pecan nut found on a North Texas ranch. From that pecan nut, a new wild yeast strain was born. No other craft distillery in the nation had attempted to isolate and grow a wild yeast strain. Decades had gone by since a new one suitable for whiskey was invented.

F&R Distilling Co. also utilizes Texas-grown corn and soft red winter wheat for the basis of their bourbon whiskey production. This gives each batch a true local flavor.

"We're really proud of the distillery. What we've done, it's a really unique atmosphere. Something that we do is everything is hand-crafted. So, when people come here they really get a sense of our personality and a respect we have for the product," proprietor and distiller Troy Robertson said.

F&R prides itself on local and handcrafted products. Not only is each F&R whiskey brand unique, but its packaging is too. Each one is capped with a handmade cork that is decorated with a piece of donated boot leather. No two bottle tops are the same!

Come enjoy a one-of-a-kind drinking experience - Firestone and Robertson Distilling Co. is open for tours, tastings, private events, and weddings.
