MESQUITE -- Some of the biggest Monster Trucks from across the country rolled into Mesquite this week, ready to smash everything in their way as part of the Monster Truck Winter Nationals.
It is part of the “The Biggest of the Bad” tour, which features six “Bad Boys”, weighing in at about 10,000 pounds each.
On Friday, News 8’s WFAA got an up-close look at Bigfoot (one of the first Monster Trucks ever built), Clydesdale, and Sergeant Smash.
In addition, the show will feature Strait Jacket, Wild Fire, and Formula 1 Iron Horse. This is the first time Resistol Arena in Mesquite will host a Monster Truck Show.
"You don't have to be a race fan to like this,” explained Ed Beckley, with “The Biggest of the Bad” tour. “This is fun stuff. Not only that, but when were all little kids, we all played with toy trucks. Trucks right now are the hot rods of the 2000's. You can see Dodge builds one, Ford builds one, everybody builds one. These [Monster Trucks] have a lot bigger hot rods."
The Friday and Saturday night events begin at 7:30 p.m., with gates opening at 6 p.m. A VIP Pit Party will start at 6:30 p.m., getting spectators up close and personal with their favorite drivers.
