Daybreak recipes: Healthy breakfast ideas

Amy Kushnir of My Texas Today gave us these easy breakfast ideas on the January 7 edition of News 8 Daybreak Saturday.


Healthy Breakfast #1

Ingredients

  • Kashi cereal
  • Non-fat plain yogurt
  • Berries

Directions

  1. Layer all ingredients in a bowl and enjoy!

Healthy Breakfast #2

Ingredients

  • Sliced Grapefruit
  • Warmed walnuts - about 45 sec in microwave
  • Pinch Salt
  • Pinch Cinnamon

Directions

  1. Layer all ingredients in a bowl and enjoy!

Healthy Breakfast #3: "Egg-In-The-Hole"

Ingredients

  • Slice of wheat bread with center cut out
  • 1 egg
  • Butter
  • Salt and pepper

Directions

  1. Cut center out of bread with a biscuit cutter.
  2. Place 2 tbs. butter on skillet and let melt.
  3. Put both pieces of bread (circle and hollowed out slice) on top of melted butter.
  4. Add egg to the hollowed out slice and cook on med/low heat.
  5. Can add a little salt and pepper.
  6. Flip to cook on other side after a couple of min. and repeat salt/pepper to taste.
  7. Enjoy!
