MCKINNEY - The McKinney Fire Department is investigating a fire that destroyed a popular event facility Thursday night.

The fire broke out around 8:30 p.m. at the Wild Bill's & Calamity Jane's events and entertainment facility at Storybook Ranch, located in the 3700 block of Custer Road in McKinney.

A ranch foreman was trapped on the second floor when firefighters arrived. He was rescued and was reported to be okay. All the animals at the ranch were also reported safe.

For 20 years, Storybook Ranch hosted private parties, corporate events and weddings.

Proceeds funded programs for special needs children.

According to Storybook Ranch's website, the facility will be rebuilt.
