DALLAS - The Department of Public Safety is investigating a wrong-way wreck on the Dallas North Tollway.

A tow truck driver reported seeing a Range Rover going northbound in the southbound lanes at Lemmon Avenue at about 1 a.m. Thursday in Dallas. The vehicle hit an SUV traveling in the proper direction.

Both the male driver of the Range Rover and the female driver of the SUV were hospitalized. DPS says Ronald Nelson, of the Woodlands, will be charged with driving while intoxicated.

Last summer, the North Texas Tollway Authority launched an initiative to try to cut down on wrong-way wrecks by lowering warning signs at exit ramps.
