Angie's List: Tips on selling your house

First, how are you going to price my home. Make sure it's comparable with homes in the area.

Next, ask for a marketing plan for your house. It should be advertised aggressively online, at the very least.

Third, ask if your home is ready to sell. Condition is key.

And, finally, if you do any renovations, ask if the project will add value to the home.

If not, the project probably isn't worth the money.

"When interviewing real estate agents really dig in with how good they perform in your neighborhood. Find out how long houses they sell are typically on the market. Also, how close to the asking price does the house sell and how do they compare in per square foot cost on the sell price", says Angie Hicks of Angie's List.

Choosing a larger real estate company might be worth the expense. They usually attract more prospective buyers based on the volume of their listings.
