DALLAS - Fire investigators are still working to determine the cause a four-alarm fire that left 12 families displaced Tuesday morning at the Las Cascadas complex in northeast Dallas.
The fire broke out Monday night. While firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze, it flared back up in the early morning hours Tuesday, destroying several units in the 9300 block of Skillman Street.
The destruction from the fire affected 15 families in all, with 12 families displaced. Twenty-four units were destroyed in the three-story building.
Overnight, Red Cross assisted eight families, placing them in hotels and providing clothing and food. The organization reported that the fire was the fifth one they have responded to since noon Monday. They estimated there was around $500,000 in damage at the complex.
