The 20-year-old man accused of shooting two Wichita Falls girls last week, killing one, told investigators he planned it with the devil.
In an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by the Wichita Falls Times Record News, Kody Lott said he was angry about not having a girlfriend.
Also, the affidavit said, “Kody stated he planned the events and was upset that the local media called the incident ‘senseless.’ Kody stated the incident wasn’t senseless because he planned and thought it out after talking to the devil about it.”
Lauren Landavazo, 13, and Makayla Smith, 13, were shot as they walked home from school on Friday. Lauren died, but Makayla survived.
Preliminary autopsy results showed Lauren was shot 14 times. According to the affidavit, authorities found 15 spent shell casings from a .22-caliber rifle at the scene.
Makayla was interviewed at a hospital emergency room. She told police that the driver of a vehicle stopped ahead of them, made eye contact and reached for a rifle. He was “a younger looking white male” with “shaggy brown hair,” she said.
On Sunday, police got a tip about a man with a rifle or rifle case. The tipster got the license plate of the man’s SUV. Officers found the vehicle and arrested Lott. A .22-caliber shell casing was in Lott’s vehicle.
