Suspect wounded in shootout with Dallas police

DALLAS -- A suspect was shot by officers during a disturbance call in South Dallas.

At about 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, police were called to an apartment complex in the 1500 block of Argentia Drive after the suspect was allegedly trying to kick down the door of an apartment unit.

Police arrived and gunfire was exchanged. 

The suspect was shot at least once before being taken into custody. He was taken to an area hospital with a gunshot wound that is being considered non-life threatening.

A squad car was struck in the shootout, but no officers were injured.

It isn't clear how many officers were involved and how many shots were fired.

The identification of the suspect has not been released.
