DALLAS — An armed robbery suspect was shot and wounded by Dallas police Sunday evening.

Investigators said two men attempted to hold up the 7-Eleven convenience store at the corner of Zang and Colorado boulevards Sunday evening and fled in a vehicle.

Police gave chase. A passenger got out of the car and was arrested; the driver kept going.

Officers caught up with the suspect's car at a dead-end near the corner of Green Street and Winnetka Avenue in a residential area of North Oak Cliff.

"He exited the vehicle armed with a weapon," police spokesman Sgt. Warren Mitchell said. "The suspect turned toward the officers, and the officers fired, striking the suspect.."

The wounded suspect was taken to Methodist Dallas Medical Center, and was expected to survive his gunshot wound.

No one else was injured.
