Police: Intoxicated woman left toddler in Weatherford parking lot

WEATHERFORD — Police say a woman became so intoxicated she was unaware she left a toddler alone for at least an hour Saturday night in the parking lot of a Weatherford business.

According to authorities, police were called to the scene in the 1900 block of Santa Fe Drive after an employee observed the 2-year-old child crying alone for about an hour Saturday night.

Police later determined the child was under the care of Melissa Deann Morris, 43, who they said "was so intoxicated that she was unaware that the child was missing."

Morris was arrested and transported to the Parker County Jail, where she was charged with endangering a child.
