HOUSTON – A man shot and killed himself at a northwest Houston hospital Sunday shortly after his wife gave birth, according to Houston police.
Police said the 32-year-old man shot himself while in a room with his wife at the Willowbrook Methodist Hospital.
No one else was inside the room, but some reported hearing what sounded like arguing shortly before the shots were fired.
The man was flown to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
While the hospital has a no-gun policy, one hospital visitor expressed concern that maybe more should be done to keep the area safe and secure.
“They should probably have more security," said Gustavo Manrique, a hospital visitor. "If they’re going to let people in the institution like that. They probably need to have cops or something like that around if somebody has a gun, or metal detectors or something.”
As of noon Monday, police had not released the identity of the man.
