DALLAS -- A man has been arrested for a weekend murder in Northeast Dallas.
Just before 9 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to a 911 call about a shooting at 9520 Royal Lane, near Abrams Road.
Tylor Borner, 39, was found shot and was taken to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries.
A witness at the scene told officers, "I saw Brandon with a gun running away, you didn't see him when you pulled up?" The witness described Brandon to officers, and their investigation led them to believe Brandon Cornell Perry, 35, was their suspect, an affidavit reveals.
Borner's family members told officers they received information about Perry's whereabouts, and said he could be found in an apartment at the same complex where the shooting occurred, documents state.
When police knocked on the door of that apartment, Perry jumped off the balcony and ran. He was eventually arrested on an unrelated warrant, but denied being involved in the murder when interviewed.
A second witness told officers that Perry knocked on his apartment door and told him he had been shot in the leg. The witness offered to take him to the hospital but he refused and hid instead.
The original witness came to police headquarters and identified Perry in a lineup, documents show.
He was booked into the Dallas County Jail for the unrelated warrant and murder. His bond is set at $200,000.
