Dallas police turn to public in search for leads in woman's murder

DALLAS -- Police in Dallas are asking for the public's help after a boy discovered the body of a woman on the side of her home Wednesday morning.

According to authorities, the boy found the body in the 1300 block of Kellogg Avenue as he walked to school at about 7:21 a.m. Dallas police later identified the woman as Maria Romero-Villegas. Police say the victim suffered multiple stab wounds.

Romero-Villegas was last seen the night before at about 10 p.m. a little more than a mile from her home at an Exxon gas station on East Illinois Avenue. She was driving a 1997 Dodge pickup truck with silver trim.

Authorities are seeking more information on the victim's whereabouts between the time she was last seen at the gas station and when her body was found the next morning. 

Dallas police have asked anyone with information related to the case call Det. Isom at 214-671-3701.
