ARLINGTON - A 20-year-old Arlington man was arrested in the shooting death of his mother Monday night at a home in the 3600 block of Montridge Court, Arlington police said in a written statement.

According to police, 38-year-old Melanie Spencer called police at about 9:15 p.m. and told a 911 dispatcher her son, 20-year-old Jonathan Peter Lannon, was armed with a gun. Upon arriving to the scene, officers found Spencer wounded. She was later pronounced dead at the Medical Center of Arlington.

Authorities said Lannon also pointed the gun at his grandparents, who were not injured. The suspect faces two counts of aggravated assault and a murder charge.
