After series of thefts, stolen packages recovered in DeSoto

DESOTO - Authorities say one person is in custody after an individual was seen following a delivery truck and picking up packages as they were dropped off at DeSoto homes.

DeSoto police say 13 packages were reported stolen over a three-day period from Nov. 28 to Nov. 30. A surveillance camera installed at one of the victim's home was able to capture an image of the suspect and a vehicle, DeSoto police said in a Facebook post.

The photo was shared with patrol units. On Nov. 30, an officer spotted the suspect vehicle in the 1300 block of W. Belt Line Rd., which was in the area of the thefts.

A suspect was taken into custody on unrelated charges and stolen packages recovered after the officer pulled the vehicle over. It's unclear if the unidentified suspect is the same person captured in the surveillance video.

"... Detectives are attempting to locate additional victims and return their stolen packages/items," read a post on the DeSoto Police Department's Facebook page. "Detectives are also requesting any additional video surveillance which shows the offense occurring."

Anyone with information pertaining to the case is asked to call DeSoto police at 469-658-3050.
