BEDFORD — A 16-year-old girl has admitted that she made a false report about a stabbing outside her home in the 1000 block of Crestview Drive Monday afternoon.
Investigators said the victim initially told her that she was standing in the driveway outside her vehicle when a man dressed in black confronted her, demanded money and then stabbed her in the torso.
"After investigators were able to speak to the victim to obtain further details, the victim acknowledged that her report of being robbed by a black male was false and that the wound was self-inflicted," according to a statement released Tuesday evening by Bedford police.
The victim remained at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth for treatment. She is expected to survive.
Police said the girl's motive for the false report was still under investigation.
