DECATUR -- A Wise County man was arrested Sunday for beating his 75-year-old mother to death.
Kirk Heithecker, 49, is facing a charge of murder and bond has been set at $1 million.
He’s accused of killing Nancy Heithecker in the home he shared with her on the 700 block of County Road 4270 in Wise County. Wise County deputies arrested Kirk Heithecker Sunday without incident.
They went to the home after receiving a call from Nancy’s daughter, who had stopped by on Mother’s Day. When she asked her brother where mom was, she and detectives got a disturbing answer.
According to court documents obtained by News 8, the suspect told deputies he sent his mother to hell by kicking her in the head with his heel while she sat in a love seat in the living room.
Heithecker also admitted, records show, that he took his mother outside, placed a black robe on her, and threw trash on her because he could still see her.
The Southwest Institute of Forensic Science determined the cause of death was blunt force trauma and strangulation.
Authorities have no motive for the attack at this time.
Nancy’s neighbors are heartbroken.
“She's a sweet lady, and so that was kind of disturbing,” said neighbor Tony White. “She was a good parent. She did everything for her kids.”
White remembers seeing her picking up her mail. He said he saw Nancy last Saturday, walking toward her home with her cane, and two cats. It was the last time he would see her alive.
“I wish we had known something was going on, at least heard something,” he said.
Kirk Heithecker was previously arrested in April of 1999 for aggravated assault of a public servant in Wise County.
