FORT WORTH — A Weatherford couple faces charges in what some hospital staffers are calling the worst child abuse case they have ever documented.
The four-month-old girl is being treated at Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth after doctors determined that the child had suffered unthinkable pain.
Parker County Sheriff's Investigator Sammy Slatten said there was no part of the child that had not been physically abused. The infant had bruises and fractures on her stomach, face, head, back, legs, arm, feet and hands.
Doctors at Cook Children's are concerned the infant may have also suffered serious brain damage.
The child's mother, Leanne Kathleen Donovan of Weatherford faces charges of injury to a child. Investigators said the 19-year-old may face additional charges in Tarrant County, where she lived with the baby before moving to Parker County.
Also under arrest is Isaac Daniel Bigley, the baby's father and Donovan's boyfriend. Bigley, 27, is charged with tampering with evidence.
Bigley had been on parole for burglary. Parker County officials said he attempted to assault jail personnel when he was being booked. He also reportedly claimed to be a member of the "Aryan Brotherhood."
Investigators said Donovan's Saturday visit to a clinic with her child led to the arrests.
The woman allegedly told the clinic that the baby had broken out in a rash.
Doctors said it wasn't a rash at all — there were indications of facial hemorrhaging stemming from possibly being choked or suffocated.
