EULESS — Trinity High School and Midway Park Elementary School were both placed on lockdown Friday afternoon after police found a vehicle that was stolen around the area of the school.
Eric Starnes, a spokesman with the Euless Police Department, said the car had a gun inside it and was originally reported stolen in Keller. Once the vehicle was located in Euless, police did a search and found the weapon was missing.
"A witness observed two subjects running from the vehicle," Starnes said.
As police searched for the two suspects, Trinity High School and Midway Park Elementary were both placed on a precautionary lockdown in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District.
A small crowd of concerned parents gathered outside the school as they waited for word from school officials.
The lockdown was lifted just after 2 p.m., but the search for the two individuals continues, police said.
