FLOWER MOUND — Flower Mound police say a man who is alleged to have been impersonating a lawyer turned himself in on Tuesday morning.
Donald Ray Mason surrendered shortly before noon and was then arrested, charged with tampering with a governmental record.
Bond was set at $5,000.
Investigators said Mason had been impersonating Lonnie Woods of The Woods Law Firm in courts around North Texas. They said clients paid Mason to handle their traffic tickets, but he allegedly would file bogus documents and collect a fee.
The unwitting victims of the scheme are left with charges that are still pending.
Police expressed thanks to the public for providing information that led to Mason's arrest.
