DALLAS -- A man has been arrested after police say he shot and killed a passenger in his car at a South Dallas gas station.
Around 3:15 a.m. on June 29, surveillance cameras at the Raceway gas station at 303 East Ledbetter Road captured the incident.
A car driven by Ranji Charles was seen pulling up to the gas station and parking. Charles is seen getting out of his car and getting a gun out of his trunk. He then approaches the passenger side of his car.
Police say it appears Charles got into an argument with his back seat passenger, Corey Shannon. Witnesses say they heard a single gunshot.
Charles and his other passenger, Elliot Byes, are then seen on video pulling Shannon's body out of the car.
Police say Byes left the scene on foot, while Shannon pointed his gun at witnesses and forced them to give him their phones.
About 30 minutes later, Charles' car was found at 1918 South Cockrell Hill Road. A man told police the car had been driven into a fence and he approached Charles to check on him. The witness said Charles pointed his gun at him and told him to leave.
As authorities showed up to the scene, they heard a gunshot. Charles was taken to Charlton Methodist with a wound to the face and is said to be in critical condition.
He is in police custody at this time and will be charged with homicide, detectives said.
Police also said that Charles has been linked to another murder which occurred earlier that day. Details about that incident have not yet been released.
